What I'm doing right now

Last updated: April 30, 2026 from a small town in Jiangxi province

On the way to China, I stopped in Tokyo for a few days. I mostly walked around a lot and ate a lot. From Tokyo, I flew to Shanghai and then took the train to Jiangxi province where my family is from.

My grandmother and uncle were low-key judging me for traveling to Japan. I'm not offended. I think if you experienced a fascist invasion and genocide, you're at the very least a bit justified in carrying a lifelong suspicion of another country. When they asked me why I traveled to Japan, I jokingly told them I went there to understand the enemy. I did pick up some basic Japanese, and it's been fun learning.

While here in Jiangxi, I impulsively took a two day trip out to Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. I brought some fine china back, and also, some silly china. There's now quite a mix of traditional and more modern cutesy porcelain being sold there.

I met some interesting artists there. If you know of anyone living there, please reach out to me. Currently very interested in Jingdezhen.

I'll be traveling to Nanchang on May 2, and then Shanghai on May 8. If anyone happens to be around, I'd love to meet up.

What I'm Writing and Working On

Mostly in an exploring and receiving mode right now. I'm excited to see how this trip will affect my thinking and writing.

I am looking for a male Chinese actor late 20s - mid 30s based in NYC for an upcoming production. Specifically someone who grew up in Mainland China, or understands deeply what it is like to grow up there.
