What I'm doing right now
Last updated: April 5, 2026 from my home in Brooklyn
Spring is coming to New York, and with it, lots of pollen. Fortunately, I started taking my allergy meds in mid March. I learned from my allergist that you are supposed to take allergy meds BEFORE you start having symptoms. Wish I knew that earlier ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I'm preparing for my big trip to China. First, I'll be traveling to Portland, OR this week to take care of a friend as they recover from ACL surgery.
What I'm Writing and Working On
I'm currently working on a new project about grandfathers, housing court, and gambling in the Chinese community. I'm particularly thinking about the mega casino currently being built in Flushing, New York City's Chinatown. This casino targets the largely working-class immigrant Chinese community prone to gambling addiction. Anyone with experience in gambling, I'd love to hear from you.
I'm revising Chop Suey, my play about the connection between the Chinese Communist Party and the Black Panthers set in a Chinese takeout restaurant, in preparation for some exciting new developments that I'll be able to share soon!
